Poor should approach Lok Adalat-Chief Justice

Chief Justice of A.P High Court advised the poor to approach Lok Adalat for seeking justice. He was addressing a gathering at Godavari Khani Guest House in Karimnagar District on the occasion of the inauguration of Mega Lok Adalat. He told that due to pressure of work in courts, Lok Adalats have been started since 1995 for imparting justice to the poor.

He advised the poor class to approach these Lok Adalats because they won’t get justice from the law courts immediately due the cases pending in the courts for longer periods. It is the duty of all the persons to ensure that justice is provided to everyone. He advised them to impart justice keeping aside selfishness. He said that there is nothing more satisfying than doing social service.

He applauded the efforts of the Collector of karimnagar for resolving matters by receiving complaints through “Praja vani” By disposing of 97% cases, the district attained first position in the state. On this occasion, the Chief Justice handed over the compensation cheques worth Rs 1,61,000,00 to 49 persons who were deprived of their lands due to the excavations of Singarenie Collieries. He told that if they had obtained this amount earlier, they would have derived monetary benefits out of it.

Singarenie Collieries deposited Rs 30 crore in 345 land acquistion cases. The remaining persons can come forward to obtain their land compensations. Their cases would be decided on priority basis.

The function was attended by justice R. Kantha Rao, Mr.Mohan Rao, Secretary of Legal Service Authority of the district, Mr. S. Bhattacharya, M.D of Singarenie Collieries, Mr.V Jayas, District Judge, Ms. Sumeetha Sabharwal, Collector of Karimnagar, Dr.Ravinder, member of Bar Council and others.
