High Court Chief Justice Mr Justice P. C. Ghosh has observed that the people would give more respect to the judiciary only when it dispensed justice to the poor and downtrodden sections expeditiously.
The Chief Justice was inaugurating Special Lok Adalat in the Anantapur District and Sessions Court on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Justice said that Legal Assistance Centers were established at all levels in the State with an intention to ensure that none was rendered injustice due to lack of awareness of law and money. The judiciary has taken programs like dispensing expeditious justice to the poor and downtrodden sections, creating awareness among the people about laws of the land and settlement of long pending cases through Lok Adalats, he added.
High Court Judge Mr Justice Eshwaraiah, who participated in the program, said that the judiciary would be always in the forefront in protecting the Constitution and laws of the land. Lamenting that some unhealthy incidents were taking place in the judiciary due to increasing selfishness and lack of morality and ethics, Justice Eshwaraiah said that, however, the courts were effectively discharging their responsibility of correcting the mistakes.
The High Court judges told an estranged couple, which approached the Lok Adalat, that there were several benefits if the couples lived together harmoniously without taking trivial issues serious.
