Ponting says Argus review panel did not want his recommendations ‘aired’ during meeting

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has revealed that Cricket Australia ( CA) bosses and selectors did not want to listen to his recommendations during the meeting for the Argus review.

One of the greatest batsmen of his generation, Ponting revealed in his no-nonsense manner about some of the things he could not discuss openly during his career, including the Argus review, and many of them are covered in his autobiography, At the Close of Play.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Ponting said that although he was expecting to spend the entire day imparting his ideas garnered from his seven-year experience as a captain to the Argus review panel, he was disappointed as the panel did not want to hear what he had to say.

Ponting further said he believes that some of the decisions taken by the panel had already been made some time ago, adding that there were certain individuals during the meeting who did not want his recommendations discussed in that forum. (ANI)
