Hyderabad, December 31: The Congress MP from Karimnagar, Mr Ponnam Prabhakar, on Thursday severely warned the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, saying that they would not tolerate and keep quiet if the latter criticized the Congress leaders.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Prabhakar said that the Congress party in the State was not at all weak as felt by the TRS supremo, moreover the ruling party was very strong under the stewardship of the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi. He also made it clear that the elected representatives of the Congress in the State were fighting for separate Telangana in deference to the wishes of the people of the region. He also clarified that the Congress leaders had invited Mr KCR to the hunger-strike camp only because he was leader of TRS fighting for separate State.
Referring to the “Rythu Kosam” public meeting organised in Guntur on Thursday by the Telugu Desam party president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Prabhakar dismissed the meeting as a mere political drama. He observed that the Telugu Desam party was conducting “political show” to hoodwink the gullible farmers. Mr Chandrababu Naidu, who once dismissed agriculture as a wasteful avocation, fighting for the farmers welfare was meant to fool the farming community, he said, adding that the farmers in the State were not ready to get misled by the power-hungry TDP leader.
Stating that Mr Chandrababu Naidu was shedding crocodile tears on the farmers’ plight, Mr Prabhakar said that the TDP leader was raising his voice over the farmers problems with an intent to whitewash his misdeeds during his regime.
The Congress MP appealed to the people of the State to remain calm maintain restraint about the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report whatever be its contents. If the Committee Report went against the sentiments of the people of the region, let us convey our feelings in peaceful and democratic manner, he added.
