Ponnam slams Palwai, Renuka for remarks on T-Cong MPs

Congress MP from Karimnagar Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday came down heavily on Rajya Sabha MPs Palwai Goverdhan Reddy and Renuka Chowdhary for accusing eight Congress MPs from the Telangana of resorting to blackmail tactics over Telangana issue.

Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat along with BC Welfare Minister Basvaraj Saraiah, Ponnam Prabhakar asked if the MPs were indeed resorting to blackmail politics, then Palwai Govardhan Reddy supported the MPs after they were suspended from the Lok Sabha for four days. He sought to know as to what led Palwai to change his stand in just two days. He demanded that Palwai clarify his stand on the statehood issue.

He claimed that it was Renuka Chowdhary who used offensive language against Nehru-Gandhi family and kicked the doors of Gandhi Bhavan after she was denied a post. He said the Lok Sabha MPs need not take lessons on discipline from her.

On Renuka’s challenge that she was ready to contest from any seat, Ponnam asked her to contest from Parakala assembly seat in Warangal seat in the by-elections. He said Renuka Chowdhary would understand the intensity of Telangana sentiments if she visits Parakala as a candidate.

The Karimnagar MP also criticised the visit of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to Renuka’s house. Ridiculing Renuka’s claim that it was a personal visit, he said even Peddapalli MP G Vivek’s daughter got married recently and why did the Chief Minister did not visit his house. (INN)
