Ponnam sees anti-Telangana plot in APRA amendments

Congress leader and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has strongly condemned the amendments in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here on Thursday, Ponnam alleged that amendments were being made to the Act as a part of conspiracy hatched by Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to establish the control of Central Government over Hyderabad. Condemning the increase in Legislative Council seats in Andhra Pradesh, he alleged that by making certain amendments in the Act that BJP-led Central Government has been trying to encroach upon the powers of Telangana State.

Ponnam said that the Central Government should consult Telangana Chief Minister and other political parties in the State before bringing any amendment in the AP Reorganisation Act. He also questioned the silence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other TRS leaders over the recent amendments in the Reorganisation Act. (INN)
