Hyderabad: TPCC vice-president Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday called upon the people in the State to vote for Congress candidates in the third phase of the ongoing local body elections scheduled to be held on May 14. He said victory of the Congress candidates was need of the hour to protect democracy in the State.
In a statement here on Sunday, Prabhakar alleged that the State was reeling under dictatorial rule of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Stating that the Congress alone could teach a befitting lesson to the “dictator” in the State, Ponnam ridiculed the Chief Minister for visiting temples in the country along with his family members even as 26 students of Intermediate committed suicide due to the mistakes of officials of the Board of Intermediate Education.
Lamenting that there was no reaction from the Chief Minister despite the fact that farmers were dying at market yards due to sun stroke and lack of remunerative prices for their produce, Ponnam alleged that KCR was now trying to befriend the Congress party as it has become clear that the party was returning to power at the Centre after May 23.
