Ponnam demands disqualification of Vemulawada MLA

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday lodged a complaint against Vemulawada MLA Cheenamaneni Ramesh with Assembly Speaker Nandendla Manohar for staying in Germany for the last three years without bothering about people’s problems in his respective constituency.

In a petition submitted to the Speaker, Ponnam Prabhakar demanded disqualification of Cheenamaneni Ramesh for neglecting the people’s problems in his constituency.

Later, talking to media persons in the assembly premises, he said that the MLA was staying in Germany after marrying a German national and enjoying all benefits of MLA at the cost of State’s exchequer. The MLA, so far, has was present for 10 days out 147 days when the assembly sessions were held in the last three years. He said that he has lodged a complaint with the Speaker as the implementation of developmental programmes and schemes were affected in the Vemulawada Assembly constituency due to MLA’s absence.

However, he said that he has no political grudge against the MLA.

Ponnam Prabhakar demanded that speaker initiate action against Ch Ramesh for claiming benefits given to MLAs by staying in a foreign country and for misusing his official position. He asked the Speaker to give an alternate to the people in the absence of Ch Ramesh in the constituency. (INN)
