Ponnam backs Gutha’s letter to PM

Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has extended his support to Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him not to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh State.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Ponnam said there was no need to find fault with the letter of Gutha and demanded that the Centre accord special status to the Telangana State also if the Centre accords special status to Andhra Pradesh State. Ponnam said the responsibility of getting special status to Telangana State lies with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He alleged that the Chief Minister was not showing interest in bringing funds from the Centre but was showing interest to enter into alliance with the BJP.

It may be recalled that APCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy found fault with Gutha Sukhender Reddy’s letter and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, who played a key role in preparing Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, made it clear that the Congress was totally disassociated with the Gutha’s letter. Due to Gutha’s letter, the Congress party’s idea of fixing the BJP for delaying the process of according special status to Andhra Pradesh State was not becoming fruitful. (NSS)
