Ponnala sold tickets: Shankar Rao

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao today accused Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah of selling out MLA tickets to some people. He also took serious exception to Congress MP and staunch supporter of late YSR, KVP Ramachandra Rao for playing a role in denial of ticket to him.
Talking to mediapersons here, Shankar Rao charged Ponnala with making money out of selling tickets to inefficient leaders. “I have been in the party for about five decades and it is highly improper to deny me ticket”, he added. He also alleged that Ponnala Lakshmaiah and KVP are behind the denial of a ticket to him.
Shankar Rao fumed at the Telangana Congress chief for failing to get him back. Literally, he made a scathing attack on Lakshmaiah, who failed to recommend his name despite fighting corruption and being a former minister. He said his seniority and sincerity did not work in the party which denied ticket to him. “I will have to contest the elections as an independent”, he remarked and sought a clarification from Ponnala as to why he denied him a ticket. He was also critical that he was denied ticket as he fought the corruption against former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. (NSS)
