Ponnala slams KCR on options, Bathukamma

TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah today ridiculed the TRS Government for celebrating Bathukamma festival in Hyderabad when farmers are committing suicides in the villages.

Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan here along with Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali and Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, he accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of acting like notorious Nero emperor. KCR’s word on ‘Options’ has become a mere coin which is not in use, he alleged. “The CM has forgotten the Options issue and other poll promises, he charged. During elections KCR provoked the employees with regard to options and now on coming to power failing to touch upon the issue, he charged. The employees associations should now pull up the CM on this issue, he suggested.

Lakshmaiah alleged that the government is adopting negligent attitude towards the farmers which led to suicides of about 200 farmers on failing to get financial aid from the government, he charged. He sought to know why the TRS Government is spending crores of funds for festivals like Bathukamma and other related programs being conducted in a big way. The TRS Government is giving priority to non-issues while various sections of people are living in unrest due to lack of power, MSP for produce, seeds and fertilizers and harassment by money lenders for loan repayment.

The TPCC president said the government must shift its focus immediately on these issues, he suggested. Even the Telangana ministers have failed to bother on the suicides of the farmers, he charged. The government should at least now focus on the crop loan waiver and release total funds, he demanded. It is high time that the government should take steps to give confidence among the farmers and prevent them from extreme steps he said. Lest the farmers and people will not hesitate to take on the Government, he warned. (NSS)
