AICC secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday said that he would request Petroleum Minister S. Jaipal Reddy to ensure gas supply to Shankarpally gas-based power plant in Karimnagar district.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here, Ponguleti said that it was not proper for the Opposition parties to talk as they like and asked them not see the issue in political angle. He urged the State government to solve the problem and protect interests of the State. He also urged Jaipal Reddy to see that the Karimanagar Gas based Power Plant was not confined to papers.
Criticising the offensive attitude of the political parties in the State, Ponguleti advised them to emulate their counterparts in Tamil Nadu. Stating that TN politicians were getting funds and projects from the Centre, he asked the State political leaders to follow Tamil Nadu politicians and protect the interests of the State. Criticising TDP leader and Khammam MP Nama Nageshwar Rao for speaking loudly on the power crisis, he asked Nama about the contribution of the Chandrababu Naidu’s regime. Stressing the need for unity among all political parties irrespective of political affiliations to mount pressure on the Centre, Ponguleti appealed to the MPs not to see the power issue in a political angle.
He urged the government to consider all the issues and see that the students were not burdened with fees. He appealed to State government to view the problems in humanitarian angle and work for welfare of the backward classes. He also exuded confidence that the Congress would solve the Telangana issue.
