AICC secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday hailed the State Government’s decision to cancel the mining lease of Rakshana Steels with Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation for exploration of iron ore in Bayyaram and other mandals of Khammam district.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Ponguleti Sudhakar said that he had raised this issue in the State Assembly during the stint of YSR after noticing irregularities in the mining leases. Stating that illegal mining activities were still going on unabatedly in Khammam district, he appealed to the government to take stringent action against the guilty. He urged the government to give mining permits as per the law and take necessary steps in providing employment to local people in the mines and establish mining related industries to develop the backward areas.
Ponguleti wondered about yoga guru Baba Ramdev meeting the “corruption king” and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu seeking his support in his fight against corruption and black money. He also said that Baba Ramdev meeting with Naidu gives room for suspicion. He demanded that Baba Ramdev give an explanation over the corruption allegations that surfaced in the media against him.
