Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has strongly criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for not speaking anything on loss of seven mandals of Khammam due to Polavaram project during his visit to New Delhi.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here on Wednesday, Ponguleti alleged that despite promising to get back the seven mandals which were merged with Andhra Pradesh to facilitate the construction of Polavaram project, KCR remained silent on the issue during his visit to the national capital. He said that the Chief Minister should have made a strong representation to the Centre on the issue. Further, he said Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao, who hails from Khammam district, also remained silent on the issue.
Ponguleti also alleged that KCR was trying to change the design of Pranahita-Chevella Project only for personal gains. He also accused him of having failed to pressurise the Centre on implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act to get all benefits promised to Telangana State at the time of bifurcation. (INN)
