Chief Election Commissioner, VS Sampath has said that polling machinery would take special measures to ensure security for the voters and help them cast their votes without any fear in Maoist hotbeds of Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to reporters on Saturday in Hyderabad, the EC Chief said security has been stepped up ensuring safety of voters.
“Special measures will be taken by the election machinery to provide security for the voters to help them to cast their votes freely and fearlessly,” Sampath said.
Polling in Andhra Pradesh will be held on April 30 in the seventh phase of general elections.
About 36 percent of polling stations have been classified as critical, hypercritical as most of them under Maoist inflected area.
“Total number of polling stations in the state is 70171. In that 35390 that are about 36 per cent, they are classified as critical, hypercritical etc,” he said. (ANI)
