Lok Satta Party founder-president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan here on Wednesday strongly felt the need for drastic electoral reforms to ensure that honest and service-minded people get elected to the legislative bodies.
Speaking to mediapersons, the Kukatpally MLA said the situation in politics has come to such a pass that nobody, without at least Rs crores in hand, cannot contest elections to the Assembly. He bemoaned that honest people were not able to embrace politics as it has become a lucrative business for the affluent. Only the families or individuals, who are popular among the masses, were alone able to win elections with limited expenditure, he added.
Stating that the economic condition of the country would improve with better political set-up, Dr Narayan exuded confidence that a tough Anti-Corruption law would come into being by the end of next year. (NSS)
