Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal on Friday said that the Model Code of Conduct would be strictly implemented for the by-elections to Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
Addressing a press conference here, Bhanwarlal informed that the Gazette notification for the by-polls would be held on October 28 and last date for filing of nominations will be November 4. While the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be November 7, polling will be on November 21 and counting of votes will take place n November 24.
Bhanwarlal said that the bye-elections would be held according to the electoral rolls prepared with reference to January 1, 2015, as qualifying date and which have been finally published on January 17, 2015. Presently there are 1475311 electors and 1751 polling stations are being set up for the bye-elections which will be held using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). He said adequate number of EVMs has been made available to Warangal District and the District Election Officer has been asked to commence the First Level Check in the presence of the representatives of the political parties immediately.
Bhanwarlal said live webcasting and videography would be arranged in all 1751 polling stations of Warangal Parliamentary constituency.
It may be mentioned bye-elections for Warangal Lok Sabha seat got necessitated due to the resignation of Kadiyam Srihari following his induction in State cabinet and subsequently, his election as Member of Legislative Council. (INN)
