Politicos react as Muslim outfits in Mumbai slam compulsory yoga in schools

Political leaders on Thursday react as senior clerics and Muslim community leaders in Mumbai opposed the state government order asking schools to remain open on June 21 to mark International Yoga Day and demanded that the celebrations be made optional.

The community leaders also maintained that it is detrimental for their religious freedom as Islam is a monotheistic religion.

Muslim organisations have also decided to meet the chief minister to request that yoga sessions not be made compulsory. Politicos opined that yoga is not a religious practice and all are free to practice it or not depending on their will. Some also maintained that the government should not force yoga on any religion or person whatsoever.
