Politicians exploit religion to boost up their image

Many politicians are exploiting religious festivals to boost up their image and to muster support of the voters in this way. By doing so, they also try to bring credit to their political parties.

The recent communal riots in Sangareddy have minimized the border line of politics and religion. The extraordinary support t of the Congress MLA Mr. T. Jaya Prakash Reddy to the Raman Navami celebration is an indication that the so-called politicians are entering into the arena of religion through such festivals.

The supporters of Congress MLA exhibited the photos of the MLA decorating 4 km long road leading to Sangareddy with the photos of Lord Rama on beautiful flexiboards.

The devotees of Lord Rama have established the tradition of taking out a rath yatra on the occasion of Sri Raman Navami for the first time in the state history which is an indication that the religious festivals are being turned into the “Politics of Rama Rajya”. This time Rama Navami was celebrated on a grand scale. Such elaborate arrangements of Saffron coloured flags, big banners and cut-outs were never witnessed earlier.

There is a rumour taking rounds in the political circles that the present MLA who has come from BJP again wants to go back to his original party in the next General elections.

MIM in 2010 had started the tradition of celebrating of Miladunnabi on a grand scale. In a competitive spirit, the activists of Bajrang Dal and Hindu Vahini started celebrating Hanuman Jayanthi and Ram Navami in a much more elaborate way exhibiting Hindu Chauvanism.

There are indications that the local leaders are funding the youths to organize such festivals to keep them in good humour.
