Political Storm over Shifting of Chest Hospital

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to shift the Government General and Chest Hospital from Erragadda to Vikarabad is steadily snowballing into the major political storm.

Though the reason behind the Chief Minister’s decision to shift the Chest Hospital was to relocate the State Secretariat to Erragadda as the present premises was not according to “vaastu”, the Opposition parties charge that there was more to it than meets the eye in the move. They even alleged that the decision of the government was mainly intended to bemifit big business houses.

The YSRCP had already staged a protest dharna at Erragada, while the TDP leaders visited the hospital and discussed with the patients and their families to ascertain the difficulties they would have to encounter if the hospital. The Left parties too are up in arms against the government move and planning an agitation. The Congress too lambasted the decision and chalking out various plans to derail the government move.

The Telangana TDP members including legislators E. Dayakar Rao, M. Narasimhulu, L.Ramana and others went in a delegation to Rajbhavan on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan and urged him to prevent the shifting of Secretariat from the present location. They also accused the Chief Minister of selling lock, stock and barrel government lands and buildings to fill his own coffers in the name of generating revenue for the state. (NSS).
