Political parties overlooked public sentiments- Zaheeruddin Ali Khan

The decision to form separate Telangana State does not amount to honouring the sentiments of the people of Telangana but it is an attempt to pave way for Rahul Gandhi to reach the chair of Prime Minister of India. The note approved by the Central Cabinet is like giving permission to fly after cutting the wings of the bird.

Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily expressed these views while addressing a gathering at Telangana Resource Center yesterday on “Why should Hyderabad be a common capital for 10 years?”.

Mr. T. Vivek, retired Income Tax Officer, Prof. K. Madhusudhan Reddy, former Principal of Arts College, OU. Dr. Gowtham Pingle, former Director of ASCI, Mr. Borugula Vijay, Mr. Alauddin Ansari, Advocate and others addressed the gathering.

Continuing his address, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali told that the political parties are engaged in giving preference to their vested interests overlooking the sentiments of the people. He termed this attitude of the political parties undemocratic. According to the note approved by the cabinet, the income generated in Hyderabad will be shared by both the States for 10 years. By approving this proposal, Govt. of India has provided an opportunity to Seema Andhra leaders to continue their loot for another 10 years. Instead of giving the responsibility of maintaining Law and Order to Telangana State, the Center has proposed to keep it under its control. This suggestion is also not acceptable to the people of Telangana. He asked the UPA Govt. that does it think that there are no competent officers in Telangana who could fulfill the responsibility of maintaining Law and Order?. He also alleged that the Central Govt. has made Telangana the victim of conspiracies. Congress is an untrustworthy party. It is quite likely that it might deviate from its promise before 2014 elections. The proposals submitted in cabinet note were published in Telugu, Urdu and English for distribution in Telangana area. He stressed the need for the civil societies of Telangana to come forward and oppose these proposals so as to save the income generated in Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. T. Vivek told that the Telangana note approved by Central Cabinet is not satisfactory. It is undemocratic. He further told that he is preparing a note and a plan of action on behalf of Civil Society to pressurize the Central Govt. to change its decision. He also told that if there is a shortage of staff in Telangana, the services of retired employees could be utilized.

Mr. Gawtham Pingle told that Hyderabad has many beautiful buildings. The claims of Andhra rulers that they have beautified Hyderabad are false. It is also proposed that administration of both the States will be run from Secretaries. Hyderabad has many spacious and beautiful Hotels having 300 rooms. They could be converted as temporary Secretariat offices for Andhra State. He suggested that an officer from Srikakulam has to come down to Hyderabad for getting his work done which will be inconvenient for him. The Seema Andhra leaders are not taking into consideration the difficulties people of Seema Andhra have to face if Hyderabad is made a common capital. He pointed out that the people of both the States are not happy to keep Hyderabad as common capital.
