there is political heat once again in the capital as the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy was summoned late on Friday night. The Chief Minister has cancelled all his programmes and airdashed to the capita.
It is learnt that the Chief Minister was summoned to discuss about the all-party meeting on Telananana, apart from the Dharmana issue. As the governor ESL Narasimhan and the PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana are already in the capital, the visit of the Chief Minister attained importance.
Ahead of the visit of the Chief Minister, the core committee of the Congress party has already taken up issues concerning the state. In the War Room in the Rikab Gunj Marg, core committee members home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Sonia Gandhi’s political adviser Ahmed Patel, Finance Minister Chidambaram and AICC general secretary and state party affairs incharge Ghulam Nabi Aad held discussions with Rahul Gandhi.
According to information, after reviewing the election results in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, they have discussed about the situation in Andhra Pradesh. It is learnt that they have decided that there was need to bring in changes in the state and also decide about Telangana at the earliest. Reports suggest that the Congress leadership was of the view that it would be better to discuss the ‘T’ issue and go before the all-party meeting with a definite stand. It is learnt that it was keeping these issues in mind that the Chief Minister was summoned at a time when the governor and the PCC chief were available.
It is learnt that Botsa has already prepared a report on the Telangana issue with the help of two
ministers, two MLAs and two MPs each from both the regions. Botsa is likely to discuss with the High
Command and name the two representatives to be sent to the all-party meeting.
Congress High Command also might discuss the issue of Dharmana in the light of the Governor
sending the file back for reconsideration and further legal advise.
It may be recalled that the state cabinet has recently decided that there was no need to give
clearance to the CBI to prosecute minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, named an accused in the Vanpic
scam. However minister D L Ravindra Reddy disagreed with the cabinet decision and submitted a
dissent note to the chief secretary. The cabinet then sent its resolution to the governor. However, the
governor sent the file back, asking the government to study the case more and obtain further legal
advise. (NSS)
