Raipur, October 08: A constable allegedly opened fire at a police station and shot dead his colleague in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said today. The incident took place last evening after constable N Laxman of Bhadrakali police station was upset over some issue and opened fire from his AK-47 rifle.
When constable Mahesh Kumar Dhruv tried to stop him, Laxman shot him, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Avinash Mohanti told PTI by phone. Dhruv later succumbed to the bullet injuries, he said.
Meanwhile, Laxman fled from the scene after the incident, but he was later arrested, Mohanti said, adding he was being questioned. The reason behind Laxman”s action was not yet known however, police suspect he was under influence of liquor.
