Police yet to begin probe into Thapar’s allegation

New Delhi, November 11: Police is yet to begin its probe into allegations by a prominent businessman that he was illegally arrested from a city bar while officials were searching for two people including Manu Sharma, who is a convict in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Following the allegation by Samir Thapar, vice president and managing director of JCT Ltd that he was taken into custody from LAP lounge bar on Saturday illegally, Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal ordered a probe by Crime Branch.

“We have not received any complaint from Thapar. We are yet to begin probe,” a senior police official said.

Police had gone to the LAP lounge bar following a complaint against Sahil Dingra, who allegedly picked up a brawl with the son of a senior police officer in the adjoining Ashok Hotel’s F-Bar.

Dhingra was accompanied by Sharma, who was out on parole, to the bar
