Police writes to army for arrest of five personnels

Jaipur, July 21: Ajmer police has written to Army seeking arrest of five army personnels after their names cropped up in the investigation into the recruitment scam of sepoys at Ajmer, a senior police official said today. “We have written to the authorities concerned, including the Army headquarter, for arrest of three Major and two Subedar Major rank personnels who are suspected to be involved in the scam,” SP Ajmer H Sharma said.

“We have already interrogated one Major and one Subedar Major two days back to enquire their involvement in the scam,” he said, adding,”recruitment related documents are also being checked.” The scam came into light following busting of a gang on July 13.

The gang headed by one ex-armyman Abhilash Singh was using undergarments of a particular company as a code to get their candidates identified among others by the doctor and physical instructor while appearing in the physical and medical tests. The gang used to charge Rs 1.5 lakh per candidate.

Eight members have been arrested so far who revealed the alleged involvement of Army officers in the recruitment processes.
