Police, TRS activists clash

Mahboobnagar, July 05: Mild tension prevailed at Shadnagar in Mahboobnagar district today when Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders organised protests over arrest of their leader Ibrahim and his followers. The rasta roko held by them led to heated argument between the police and TRS activists.

When police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd, TRS leaders protested against the police high handedness and alleged that the local DSP Bapu Reddy had manhandled TRS leader Harish Rao.

However, Bapu Reddy later tendered apology to Harish Rao. Police arrested TRS leaders E Rajendar, T Harish Rao and others and later released them on personal bonds.

Yesterday several TRS activists under the leadership of Ibrahim attacked a private steel factory and damaged the office furniture. They alleged that the factory was creating pollution problems in the town and threatened to intensify agitation if the Government did not take action.

After receiving a complaint from the factory management, the police entered the scene.

They arrested 12 activists including party leader Ibrahim and others and send them to judicial custody.
