Hyderabad Police has tightened noose against illegal financers and agents involved in illegal contract marriages. Addressing a press conference Deputy Commissioner police South Zone Mr. V Satyanarayana informed that South Zone police on Friday invoked provisions under the stringent Preventive Detention (PD) Act against four more notorious criminals, including one person charged with conducting illegal contract marriages of minor girls from the city to Arab Shaikhs for his personal gains. He was charging a huge amount for this. He was taking minor girls’ sign on plain paper and was using the same for divorce after a fixed time. Mr. Satyanarayana told that Akber, was an immoral traffic offender and was trading and supplying minor girls for prostitution and living on their earnings, police said. Deputy Commissioner of police told that besides contract marriage agent action was also taken against Qazi, in this connection. Abdur Rasheed of Gandhi Nagar and Syed Salman of Hafeezpet, Lingampally and Hafez Mohammed Azmath Jaffery are being charge sheeted. DCP told that Qazis were also equally responsible for contract marriages as they were solemnizing minor girls’ marriages with Arab Shaikhs for financial gains.
PD act was also imposed against illegal financer Mohammed Sajjad Ali R/O Yaqutpura who was involved in extortion and murder cases.
Similarly, three other accused– Syed Abdul Majeed and Syed Aslam (chain snatchers) and Mohd Sajjad Alia, illegal financer was booked under the provisions of PD Act, the DCP added.
