The Crime branch of Mumbai police today issued summonses to the 32 accused of the August 11 Azad Maidan violence case who are out on bail.
The branch asked them to appear before the magistrate’s court tomorrow, as charge sheet is slated to be filed.
“The summonses were sent to those who are out on bail,” confirmed defence lawyer Khalid Azmi.
Of the total 63 accused, 32 persons were granted bail and five were discharged as police found that there was no case against them. The rest are still in jail.
Two youths were killed and 52 people, including 44 policemen, injured when a rally called to protest alleged
atrocities on Muslims in Assam and Myanmar had turned violent.
The protesters had gone on a rampage, attacking police, media persons and vehicles.
