Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh), April 26: Police have provided security to Sathya Sai Baba’s caregiver Satyajit in view of alleged threats to his life.
Security has also been stepped up for doctors of Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital in view of the threats by a section of devotees who blamed their negligence for the spiritual guru’s death.
Some eminent devotees had alleged that Satyajit and some doctors were responsible for Sathya Sai Baba’s illness, reports said.
The 85-year-old spiritual leader passed away Sunday, 28 days after he was admitted to the hospital.
Satyajit, 33, who hails from Tamil Nadu and had started his studies here when he was five, is allegedly facing threat from a section of devotees who oppose his assuming a major responsibility in the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
Though Satyajit is not a member of the powerful trust, a section of devotees at Prashanti Nilayam claims that Sathya Sai Baba had last year promised to give him a key responsibility.
Some believe Baba had even left a will in this regard.
Satyajit was conspicuous by his absence most of the time since the guru’s body was kept for public obeisance at Prashanti Nilayam.
