Police have achieved a major breakthrough by recovering Rs 40 lakh looted at gun point on August 16 by some Unidentified miscreants from two employees of a private Company near Tikiri in the Naxal infested Rayagada district in Southern Odisha.
Rayagada Superintendent of police Rajesh Paundit said two supervisors of MR company, a sub company working under L&T were proceeding from Rayagada to Tikri in a vehicle with the cash when about 15 masked dacoits with arms intercepted the vehicle and forcibly snatched away the booty.
The incident took place while the vehicle was passing through a ghat route of Kaliapada, about 30 kms away from
district headquarter Mr Paundit said one of the employees travelling in the vehicle when confronted confessed his involvement in the crime.Basing on his statement, the police raided two places in the district and arrested nine others and recovered the entire looted money.
The SP said two more miscreants involved in the looting are absconding and efforts are on to nab them.
