Police raids UP MLA’s house in abduction case

Bijnor: Police here have conducted searches at the residence of suspended Samajwadi Party MLA Ruchi Veera following allegations against her of abducting zila parishad members.

Veera has been accused of abducting zila parishad members in favour of her husband Udyan Veera, who is contesting for zila parishad chairman’s post against SP’s official candidate Neelam Paras, wife of former minister of state Manoj Paras.

Superintendent of police Subhash Singh Baghel said a complaint was lodged from the side of Neelam Paras that Veera had kidnapped her six supporters and kept them confined at her Dharam Nagri house here.

Following probe, police raided the Dharam Nagri residence of the local MLA, who has been allegedly suspended recently for fielding her husband Udyan Veera for the post of chairman in zila parishad.

The police had obtained a search warrant from the Chief Judicial Magistrate court and carried out the search at the MLA’s house but no one including the MLA was found there, the SP added.
