Police raid tomato sauce making unit; harmful materials seized

Hyderabad: An Illegal tomato sauce making unit was raided at Medipally on Thursday.

Special Operation Team (SOT) of Malkajgiri raided the unit of tomato sauce, which was preparing sauce in ‘unhygienic’ conditions at Medipally and arrested a person in this connection. However the main owner of the unit is said to be absconding. The arrested person is his father. Father and son duo are the natives of Bihar and were preparing unhygienic food items in the city. They were running the unit by name Maa Gayatri Food Enterprises, at Boduppal, Medipally. They didn’t have permission to run the unit and were violating Food Safety Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) norms as well.

They used to prepare the sauce in unhygienic conditions and sell it to fast-food centres, bakeries, shops and food courts at cheaper prices. Consumption of such unhygienic stuff could pose hazardous and dangerous to the public health.

Tomato paste (200 litres), tomato sauce (200 litres), sodium benzoide packets (5kgs), acetic acid (35 litres) and colouring agents (5 litres) were seized from the manufacturing unit.
