With a goal of transforming Hyderabad city into crime-free, the South Zone police organized a 5K Run in the Old City of Hyderabad on Friday.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Badminton sensation PV Sindhu, Hyderabad City police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy, Yakutpura MIM legislator Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and other police officials were present.
Home Minister Narsimha Reddy and PV Sindhu flagged off the 5K Run. Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister commended the police force for striving to make Hyderabad as crime-free city. He also stressed the need for organizing such programs in future also. The rally commenced at the historic Charminar concluded at Barkas in Old city. Prizes were distributed to winners who won the event. The police also issued Appreciation Certificates to all the participants.
Earlier in the morning, thousands of people, including students, sportspersons, senior citizens, women and girls from various parts of the city participated in the Run. All along the route, various NGOs, commercial establishments, police station officials and educational institutions set up kiosks to provide soft drinks and snacks to the participants. (NSS)
