Mumbai: The Mumbai police on Tuesday opposed an application filed by Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, who is facing trial in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case, seeking to recall Pakistani-American terrorist David Colemen Headley before the court here.
“We have filed a reply in the court opposing the application,” said Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.
Jundal’s lawyer Wahab Khan had last month moved the sessions court saying that he needs to further cross-examine Headley, so he may be recalled.
The prosecution’s reply said Wahab had himself said earlier that he needed only four days to cross-examine Headley.
“Wahab had himself said that he needs four days’ time and he extensively examined Headley (subsequently),” Nikam said.
The court is likely to hear the application next week.
Headley was examined by the prosecution in February for five days while the defence examined him for four days, after he agreed to become an approver and the court granted him pardon.
Headley, who is in jail in USA, deposed through video conference.
