Hyderabad, October 09: A police inspector of Cyberabad commissionerate limits was today caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths when he took Rs 3 lakh as bribe from a former history-sheeter for delaying re-opening the rowdy sheet against him.
The inspector was chased and caught after he took to his heels seeing the ACB sleuths who laid a trap for him.
The inspector who was caught taking the bribe is S V Hari Krishna attached to the Nacharam police station of the Malkajgiri division under the Alwal zone.
Hari Krishna allegedly demanded the amount from a former history-sheeter of Nacharam police station, P Yadagiri Rao.
The history-sheet against Yadagiri Rao was dropped in 2004.
Recently, Yadagiri Rao entered into a real estate business and did some land deals. In one of such land deals, a cheating case was registered against Yadagiri Rao and he was also remanded to judicial custody.
Recently, police decided to reopen the history-sheet against Yadagiri Rao.
“Hari Krishna promised not to harass Yadagiri Rao and he also ensured that the history-sheet to be opened against would be delayed and demanded Rs three lakh for doing so,’’ ACB deputy superintendent of police Sai Krishna said.
Yadagiri Rao complained the matter to the ACB who laid a trap to catch the inspector red-handed.
“Hari Krishna accepted the money at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium, Uppal today night. On seeing our trap party, the inspector threw the packet containing the money and fled away,’’ the DSP said.
The ACB sleuths chased and caught Hari Krishna near the NGRI gate and arrested him.
Hari Krishna is a 1995 batch officer who was promoted as inspector few years back.
