Coimbatore, February 16:A police inspector attached to Saravanampatti station was arrested today while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 to show some official favour.
Based on a complaint by a pump manufacturing unit owner, Ganesan, the slueths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) wing of police, today asked him to give tainted notes to the official and caught him red handed, police said.
The official, Shivakumar had reportedly demanded Rs 50,000 to investigate a case of Ganesan, which he had lodged in November last stating that Rs six lakh were misappropriated by one of his women employees, they said.
Shivakumar was arrested when he was accepting the initial payment of Rs 15,000, police said.
