Police identify main supplier of spurious liquor

Ahmedabad, July 11: The Crime Branch investigating the hooch tragedy today said it has identified the main supplier of spurious liquor from Mahemdabad to the city.

“In the investigations we have found that consignments of spurious brew had been brought in the city from Vatvadi village in Mahemdabad and distributed in the city,” DCP (crime) Abhay Chudasama told reporters.

The hooch tragedy has claimed 122 lives so far.

“One Vinod Chauhan alias Dagri made the spurious liqour. He has been charged under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act and is absconding,” he said.

The liqour was brought into the city by two bootlegers, Dadu Charra and Harishankar Kahar, Chudasama said.

The Crime Branch arrested three accomplices of bootlegger Harishankar Kahar alias Hario yesterday.

Charra also a PASA detainee had brought 400 litre of brew and supplied it in Kantodia Vass of Majoor Gam area, Chudasama said. Charra is also absconding.
