The Andhra Pradesh Police is fully geared up for conducting the elections in 17 Parliamentary Constituencies and 119 Assembly Constituencies on April 30 in Telangana.
According to a press release issued by DGP office, police department has taken all measures for maintenance of law and order in the run-up to the first phase of General Elections on April 30 in 10 districts of Telangana, which also comprised of two police commissionerates – Hyderabad and Cyberabad.
As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, close watch has been kept on the movements of cash, liquor, gifts, contraband and other articles meant as inducement for voters, bribing of voter is violation of election law and the model code of conduct. Close watch is being maintained over all the inter state and inter district boarders.
The overall deployed strength of police force is over 90,000. It includes around 54,000 personnel of civil police and district armed reserve besides around 15,500 Home Guards. More than 3,500 recruit PCs and around 1700 personnel from other wings of police have been drawn. In all, 158 Paramilitary coys and 59 APSP companies are also deployed.
Four IAF helicopters have been stationed for constituency in the districts. During the check ups, Rs 122.94 crores have been seized and Rs 43.9 crores was returned to the owners after verification of documents. In the single biggest incident of seizure of cash, Rs 8.3 crore was seized on April 24 by Cyberabad Police. (NSS)
