Hyderabad, November 23: Five B.Ed candidates, who have been on a hunger strike at Indira Park here for the the past six days, were removed from the camp today by the police amid resistance from other protesting candidates.
Police said that AV Ramana, K Pramod, B Veeralal, Murali Mohan and S Ranjitha of AP B.Ed Vidhyarthi Sangham (APBVS) were forcefully moved to the Gandhi Hospital where all the five are learnt to be continuing their agitation.
Meanwhile, some fasting youths _ APBVS president Umamaheshwar Reddy, Sangameshwar, Velugu Jyothi, Madhu Babu, Srilatha and Misaya and some others fainted at the camp. Undeterred, the others continued their agitation.
The B.Ed candidates have been demanding appointments Secondary Grade Teachers but the state government has rejected the demand, saying that there are no posts vacant under the category of Secondary Grade Teachers. The recent talks between minister for school education D Manikya Vara Prasada Rao and the agitators have come to nought.
Just a couple of days ago nearly 100 agitators had climbed the directorate of school education building and threatened to leap from there if the government did not accept their demands. But two days after keeping the government and the police on the tenterhooks they climbed down from their position after minister of panchayat raj Botsa assured them that he would take up their demands with the CM. Complaining that they have heard nothing from government, the B.Ed candidates are continuing their agitation.
