Police foils BJP leader’s Maoists-jailbreak conspiracy plan

Ranchi: The Chaibasa region police has arrested BJP District President of Scheduled Caste Ramashankar Pandey, along with three other persons for allegedly hatching a conspiracy plan to free some dreaded Maoists from the Chaibasa division jail.

The three others arrested persons identified as Vijay Khalkho, Chamu Munda and Juel Horo are the security guards reputed in the Chaibasa Division Jail.

“On a tip-off that Sandeep Soren along with other inmates lodged in the jail have been planning for a jailbreak with the help of some policemen deputed in the jail, Ramashankar Pandey and three other persons were arrested on Monday,” said Chaibasa SP Kranti Kumar Gadhdesi.

Jail inmate Sandeep Soren had already paid the money in Khalko for executing the jailbreak sometime in Dusshera said the Police.

He further added that apart from Soren other Maoists who were also to be released during the jailbreak included Rajesh Santhali, Rameshwar Kunkal, Markendeya Singh Kutia, Dev Kumar Biruli and Nalla Bhikshapati.

“There was a plan to jump the prison wall taking help of ropes or by triggering a bomb blast in the court campus or on their way to the court,” said the SP.

It was during the interrogation the deal was disclosed in which Rs 4 lakh out of Rs 10 lakh deal were already paid by Soren through Pandey the Police said.

Sandeep Soren, Dhiren Da alias Uttam Da alias Girish Da alias Narayan Mahato, Raghunath Hembram alias Birsen alias Nirbhay ji had also escaped from the same on January 27, 2011 following a jailbreak the police added.
