Police Foil OU Students Bike Rally To Assembly

Hyderabad, December 13: Demanding withdrawal of cases registered against the students who took part in the Telangana movement, the Osmania University students on Monday morning took out bike rally from the campus to the State Assembly.

As the police tried to foil the rally, the students planned to scoot towards the Assembly through alternative routes. Even as the students split into five groups and embarked on their rally, the police once again derailed their plans. Following this, the situation became tense amidst the slogans of “Jai Telangana” and “Jai Jai Telangana” by the students.

Referring to the announcement of the Home minister, Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy, that the cases against the students would be lifted, the convenor of Telangana Joint Action Committee, Prof. M. Kodanda Ram, said that the minister’s statement lacked clarity. Demanding that all cases against students be lifted forthwith, he warned that the movement would be intensified if the government failed to do so.

Accompanied by some of the TRS party leaders, Prof. Kodanda Ram on Monday visited the students who were lodged in the Cherlapally Central jail.
