Leaders of the left parties were arrested when they were proceeding to the Assembly in a rally, protesting against the hike in power charges.
The left leaders started from the MLA quarters in Hyderguda to the Assembly, when they were stopped by the police. Police asked them to go back as there was no permission for the rally.
When they did not, police had taken them into custody. Those arrested included the CPI state secretary Dr. K Narayana, CPI (M) state secretary B V Raghavulu, Madhu and several party workers. (INN)
