Hyderabad: During a search operation in the Pardiwada area under Hussainialam police station limits on Thursday, police found carbon carbide, an illegal substance used for ripening the raw mangoes.
The south zone police arrested 5 people involved in selling Calcium carbide and another three persons involved in the illegal liquor business. The police seized banned calcium carbide as well as 150 bottles of alcohol, reported DC.
“The locals of the area protested against the raid stating that if we seize the goods it will affect their livelihood,” said South Zone deputy commissioner of police, Satyanarayana.
“We counselled them to look for legal ways to earn their bread and not to follow unlawful methods,” deputy commissioner of police further added.
