Gangtok, April 18:An employee of Sikkim ArmedPolice (SAP) has been arrested on charge of murdering his wifetwo days back in East district of Sikkim.
Jailal Baitha (54), who worked at the SAP camp at Pangthang near Gangtok, allegedly thrashed his 33-year old wife Naina Kala Chettri to death on Friday night during a quarrel, Superintendent of Police Dr. M S Tuli said.
Baitha, who was employed as the laundry-man of SAP camp, was arrested last night.
A case under section 302 (murder) has been registered against the accused and he has been remanded in five dayspolice custody.
Jailal married the victim when she was working as a casual labourer in the Bojoghari-Pangthang area near Gangtokand this was his fifth marriage.
