Police sealed 16 massage centres and booked their owners following raids conducted on fake spas in and around the Kerala capital today.
A total of 164 massage parlours were searched, of which 16 were found functioning without licence.These centres did not
possess licences issued either by the Health Department or civic bodies in the respective areas, a police release said.
Five women and three men were taken into custody for immoral trafficking from a hotel in the city.
The raids were conducted in beach resorts of Kovalam and Vizhinjam on the outskirts of the city and also many places
within the city.
The action followed reports of mushrooming of massage parlours and fake ayurvedic spas, many of which allegedly
expolited women.
