Ghaziabad: A police constable was shot dead allegedly by his colleague after a heated argument here, police said today.
Sukhbir Singh (28) was shot at by his colleague constable Umesh Yadav last evening after a heated argument on some issue, said SSP Deepak Kumar Singh.
Sukhbir was immediately rushed to a hospital with bullet injury in his stomach. He died during treatment at 2:30 AM today, he said.
“An argument broke out between the two a short while after Sukhbir reached Loha Mandi police post for duty. Yadav in a gush of anger fired at him with his duty pistol,” Singh said, adding he fled the spot with the weapon.
The victim, a resident Etah district had joined police department in 2006 and was living alone here in a rented house in Kavi Nagar here, he said.
Police teams have been deployed to arrest the accused.
Singh’s body has been sent for last rites after postmortem, the SSP added.
