Police constable dies after his car rams tree

New Delhi: A 48-year-old Delhi Police head constable died after his car rammed a tree in southwest Delhi’s Kapashera, the police said today.

The incident took place last night when Rajkumar, who was posted with the Special Cell, was on his way to meet his mother in Bijwasan.

It is suspected that he was driving at a high speed and lost control of the car on the Bijwasan-Chhawla road.

The car rammed a tree injuring Rajkumar. Locals rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, they added. Police have registered a case and are probing the matter.

In another incident, a speeding truck hit a scooter in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar, injuring two men in the early hours today, the police said.

Two men who were riding the scooter were injured. The injured men, Rohit and Aman, work as delivery boys with a restaurant.

They were going from Model Town towards Azadpur when the accident happened. The duo was admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital but Aman was later referred to Max Hospital since he was critical. The driver is absconding.

In the third incident, a pedestrian was mowed down by a truck in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar in the early hours today.

Mahesh was crossing the road when he was hit by the truck. The driver fled from the spot leaving the truck behind, police said.
