A police constable was arrested this evening along with his accomplice for their alleged involvement in illegally smuggling heroin here.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Surender Pal Singh said the arrested accused constable Bijender Singh and Mahender, would be produced in the court tomorrow and the police would request the court for their police remand so that the detail of the gang.
One Rajinder Prashad, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki was arrested on Sunday evening and during interrogation he disclosed the involvement of Bijender Singh and Mahender in it, Singh said, adding about 500 grams of heroin was also recovered from Prashad.
Singh said it was revealed that Mahender was expected to hand over the smuggled heroin to Bijender.
Earlier too the heroin smuggled from Barabanki was in the notice of Bijender, he added.
The DCP said all police stations in the district were directed to launch a special drive against drug smugglers.
