Mr. Anurag Sharma, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad told with full confidence that the Ganesh Procession will pass of peacefully on 29th September with the help of the people. He sought the corporation from the public.
He was addressing the meeting of the Central Peace and Welfare Committee of Hyderabad, which was convened to consider various arrangements to be made in connection with Ganesh Immersion. He stressed the need for the organizers to start Ganesh Procession on time. The commissioner of Police told that Hyderabad is hosting International Biodiversity Conference from 1st to 19th October. Due to this, Hyderabad will become famous on the map of Hyderabad. It is a well-known fact that Hyderabad is known for its culture and communal harmony in the entire world. He told that he is confident that the people of Hyderabad will certainly cooperate in maintaining peace and tranquility in the city.
Mr. Sharma told that the immersion process of Ganesh idols continues on the second day also. He has, therefore, requested the organizers of Telangana March to postpone “Chalo Hyderabad March” programme slated for 30th September.
The commissioner told that Prof. Kodandaram, Convener of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee also met him yesterday. He desired the convener to postpone the march and alter the date.
Welcoming the suggestions of the Central Peace and Welfare Committee, Mr. Sharma assured its secretary that police would implement all those suggestions. He pointed out that at some sensitive places, the activities of this committee have to be accelerated for maintaining communal harmony.
Applauding the performance of the Peace and Welfare Committee, Mr. Sharma requested its members to continue their services even after Ganesh Immersion in view of international Bio-diversity conference, which starts on 1st October in the city.
He appealed to them that many delegates of the conference would like to see the historical monuments in the old city and hence there is a greater need to maintain peaceful and congenial atmosphere in this part of the city. He said that every citizen should come forward to make the city environment peaceful. All the police officers of five zones of Hyderabad attended the meeting. Mr. Ameet Garg, Additional Commissioner was also present in the meeting.
Additional Dy. Commission of Task Force, Mr. Subhash Chaturvedi and Dy. Commissioner of Police Mr. K.C.C. Rambabau who are retiring on 30th September were garlanded and their services in the Police Department were applauded.
