The Telangana Government has appointed Police Commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad and Superintendent of Police of a district at district level as Registration Agencies for the purpose of registration of all existing Cyber Cafes in their respective jurisdictions with a unique registration number.
Earlier, the Director General of Police stated that Hyderabad Police Commissioner had informed him that due to increasing incidents of Cyber Crimes in Hyderabad City, there was a dire need for regulating the Cyber Cafes in city and other places in the State. Therefore, as per rule (3) (1) of Information Technology (Guidelines for Cyber Cafe) Rules, 2011, all Cyber Cafes shall be registered with a unique registration number. As of now, none of the Cyber Cafes are being registered and monitored and as such giving scope for incidence of crime. (NSS)
